ALBANY — Holidays, less than imposing opponent, long road trip and a big game just two days away. It was all the things that lead to upsets.

Not for the Fairland Dragons.

Fairland didn’t look anywhere but at the Alexander Spartans as the Dragons rolled to a 69-49 win on Wednesday.

“We played focused and we had a good defensive effort. It was a very positive game for us in a lot of ways,” said Fairland coach Nathan Speed.

Fairland hosts Oak Hill in a key inter-league match-up on Friday.

Evan Salyers had 21 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and three blocked shots to keep the Dragons unbeaten through five games.

Blaine Fuller had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists while Alec Warner came off the bench to score 13 points.

“Alec Warner played well off the bench. He hit some big shots for us,” said Speed.

Braden Jones scored a game-high 26 for Alexander (2-4).

Salyers had 6 points in the first quarter as Fairland took a 20-11 lead.

Warner then scored 7 points and Fuller 6 in the second quarter as Fairland opened up a 40-19 halftime cushion.

The lead went to 55-33 after three quarters as Warner had 6 more points. Salyers then scored 6 points in the fourth quarter as the Dragons coasted to the win.
