OAK HILL — The Rock Hill Redmen just weren’t hitting.

The Redmen couldn’t hit their shots nor could they hit the offensive boards in a 55-38 loss to the Oak Hill Oaks on Friday.

Rock Hill had just two offensive rebounds and connected on only 2 of 13 shots from 3-point range.

“We couldn’t hit any shots and we only had two offensive rebounds. Those kind of things make hit hard to win any game,” said Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds.

Andy Knipp had a game-high 18 points and 4 rebounds for the Redmen. Will McCollister added 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Trey Wilds had 3 assists and 2 steals while Laden Delawder and Drew Kidd had 3 rebounds each.

Luke Hammond and Drew Haislop scored 12 points each for the Oaks (7-1). Kyle Love scored 10.

Nick Gaines scored 4 points including a basket at the buzzer to give the Oaks an 11-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Haislop, Love and Hammond all hit 3-pointers in the second quarter with Haislop getting 8 points and Love 5 and Oak Hill outscored the Redmen 16-9 to take a 27-13 halftime lead.

Knipp and Delawder combined for 7 of Rock Hill’s 9 points.

“The second quarter was the difference in the game. They only hit three 3’s and they hit them all in the second quarter and it killed us,” said coach Wilds. “We got down 16 and we couldn’t get any closer than 11.”

Knipp had 6 points in the third quarter to offset 6 by Kisor as Rock Hill cut the deficit to 41-28, but Hammond and Chris Fairchild had 4 points each in the fourth quarter while Knipp managed 6 more for the Redmen (3-5).
