PROCTORVILLE — As Sonny and Cher once sang, “And the beat goes one.”

The beat goes on for the Fairland Lady Dragons who continued their winning ways with a 74-20 rout of the Rock Hill Redwomen on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fairland is now 10-0 overall and atop the OVC at 3-0. Rock Hill fell to 5-5 and 0-3.

“We played hard and got after it from the start,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

“We adjusted our pressure against them. They have three or four girls who can score, so we were worried about what to expect. We did a pretty good job of guarding them.”

Terra Stapleton had 16 points and 9 rebounds while Kayla Swiger had 14 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Lady Dragons.

Fairland dominated the boards 56-31. Kelsey Riley had 8 rebounds and Kerie Napier 6.

Rock Hill — who shot just 5 of 40 from the field — was led by Chelsea Harper with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Stapleton had 8 points and Swiger 6 in the first quarter as Fairland took a 22-5 lead.

Swiger had 5 more points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 45-8 at the half.

On Monday, Fairland hosts Coal Grove and Rock Hill entertains Chesapeake in league games.
