WILLOW WOOD — This just doesn’t seem to be my day.
That’s what the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings were saying after a 47-24 Southern Ohio Conference loss to the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans on Thursday.
“We didn’t get any breaks. We couldn’t get anything to fall and we got in foul trouble. But I can’t fault our effort. They gave a great effort. They battled the whole game,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Brandon Walker.
Jen Arnzen led Notre Dame in scoring but she had only 12 points — 10 in the first half.
“Megan Johnson did a heck of a job on Arnzen. We tried to take her out of the equation. Hannah Maynard pressured the ball out front really well. I was pleased with that part of our game,” said Walker.
Johnson and Maynard scored 6 points each to pace the Lady Vikings (4-5, 4-3).
Notre Dame led just 11-9 after the first quarter but the Lady Vikings did not have a field goal in the second quarter and fell behind 23-13 at the half.
After falling behind 35-21 at the end of the third quarter, the Lady Vikings didn’t make a field goal in the fourth quarter as well and scored but 3 points.
The Lady Vikings hosts Sciotoville East on Monday.
