PEDRO — There’s a reason the Chesapeake Lady Panthers have won five straight. In fact, there’s a team full of reasons.

Getting contributions from everyone in the lineup. The Lady Panthers beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 62-33 on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

After missing the last game with an illness, Amanda Ruffner returned to contribute 23 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 blocked shots.

Jordan Porter also had a big game with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

“Having Ruffner back was great. Ruffner did what she always does,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball. “But the other girls all contributed. They didn’t have to score as much, but they did a lot of other things.

“Jordan Porter did a great job, too. She controlled the middle and helped open things up on the outside. It was just a good team effort.”

Also aiding the win were Maggie Smith with 5 assists and Sarah Rice and Jackie Nelson with 4 assists each.

Brook Knipp had 9 points to lead Rock Hill (6-6, 0-4).

Ruffner scored 8 points and Porter 6 in the first quarter as Chesapeake grabbed a 16-6 lead. Knipp had 4 of Rock Hill’s total.

Ruffner had 8 more points in the second quarter and the lead grew to 28-12 at the half.

Chesapeake outscored Rock Hill 21-5 in the third quarter as Porter had 6 points and the cushion was 49-17.

Ashton Neal scored 6 points in the fourth quarter for Rock Hill.

On Thursday, Chesapeake hosts Coal Grove while Rock Hill entertains River Valley.
