Shane Morgan

Shane Andre Morgan, 77, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 1, 1934, the son of the late Uzziel Wilson Morgan and Phyllis Irene Knox Morgan Remy. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Henneke Morgan, whom he married Nov.14, 1964.

Shane attended Ironton schools and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and knife and gun collecting. Mr. Morgan was a former truck driver for the Carlyle Tile Company and a former employee for the Dayton Malleable for 10 years. He was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant sisters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Yvonne Morgan James and her husband, Billy of Ironton; brother, Bruce Morgan and Chary of Aqua Valce, Calif.; sister, Phyllis Duckett and Jesse of Franklin, N.C.; brother, Mickey Morgan of Sebring, Fla.; sister, Deanna Gullett and Denver of Ferguson, Ky.; grandchildren, Josh Morgan, Jessica Patton, Sean James, and Kaylee James, all of Ironton; and great granddaughter, Halie James of Ironton.

Funeral services will be noon Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Martha Howell

SOUTH POINT — Martha Howell, 57, of South Point, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Nov. 29, 1954, to the late Robert Rue and Bertha (Morris) Rue of Vero Beach, Fla. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kenneth Howell.

Martha was a 1973 graduate of Ironton High School. In 1980, she graduated from Cabell County School of Nursing. She and her husband served with Baptist International Outreach from June 1997 to February 2008. She served as a missionary in Russia from August 2000 to August 2007. She was a faithful servant, home school teacher and also taught at the International Christian School in Saint Petersburg Russia. Martha was also a member of Tri-State Baptist Temple in South Point.

In addition to her husband and mother, Martha is survived by a daughter, Sarah (Richard) Rose of Kingsport, Tenn.; two sons, Christopher Howell and Jonathan Howell, both of South Point; a brother, Bill Rue of Rango, Alaska; a sister, Barbara (Carl) Davis of Vero Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. John Runyon

John A. (JR) Runyon, 87, formerly of Ironton, died on Wednesday Jan. 11, 2012, in Ashland, Ky. He was born Oct. 9, 1924 to the late John F. and Pearl Elizabeth White Runyon. He was the husband of the late Arneta Kirk Runyon. He was a retired inspector for Armco Steel and a member of American Legion Post 76,VFW 8850, Moose Lodge 993, Eagles lodge. He was a U.S. Navy WW II veteran.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Runyon and Ethel Hackworth; three brothers, Curtis Runyon William Clarence Runyon and Delbert E. Runyon.

He is survived by one son, Gary Ray Runyon of Mobile, Ala.; a daughter, Sharon Kay Baltzer, of Florida; three brothers, Tom (Doris) Runyon of Coal Grove, Hugh (Jenevna) Runyon of Worthington and Paul Runyon of Arizona; three sisters, Judy Parson of Plain City, Margaret Withrow of North Lewisburg and Barbara McKee of Cincinnati; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Marline Ettinger of Ashland. Funeral will be Monday at noon at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with Larry Pennington officiating. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Section P Woodland Cemetery with VFW Post 8850 performing military rites.

 

Joy Brandt
