Carl T. Mooney

EDISON — Carl T. “Butch” Mooney, 67, of Edison and formerly of Lexington, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 17, 2012, at the Morrow County Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1944, in Ashland, Ky., to the late Clyde Raymond and Geraldine Virginia (Lambert) Mooney.

Carl was a 1964 graduate of Ironton High School. He worked for the street department in Lexington, Ohio for 20 years.

Carl married his wife, Gretchen Lee (Wetzel) Mooney, 18 years ago in Las Vegas, Nev.

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by three children, Matt (Jodi) Mooney of Mansfield, Jeremy Mooney and his fianceé Meredith Howe of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Laura (Anthony Subia) Lee of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Paula Cordle of Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Brooke Mooney and Montana Lee.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Pastor Laura White will officiate and the burial will follow in Glendale-Union Cemetery.

Kevin Thacker

SOUTH POINT — Kevin Edward Thacker, 56, of South Point, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.

The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 5, 1955, to the late Frank Donald and Gladys Rose (Sanders) Thacker.  Kevin is survived by his wife, Kim Ann (Barton) Thacker.

Kevin was a 1975 graduate of Ironton High School.  He went on to work as a courier for TLC Express Couriers, LLC.  Kevin also enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, music and loved to play bass guitar.

In addition to his wife, Kevin is survived by a son, Jon “Nicholas” (Amy) Thacker of South Point; two daughters, Angela Metzer of Riverview, Fla., and Heather Field of Sarasota, Fla.; three granddaughters, Adriana Rose Thacker of South Point and Haley Rodzos and Faith Field, both of Sarasota; five grandsons, Zane Nicholas Thacker of Flatwoods, Ky., Alex, Jacob, Josh and Brenton Metzer all of Riverview; three brothers, Tom Riley, Don Thacker and Bob Thacker, all of Ironton; and a sister, Barbara Thacker of Granger, Ind.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Rose Thacker; his father, Frank Donald Thacker; an infant sister, Angela Thacker; and a sister, Teresa (Haas) Thacker.

Sara Boggs

SCOTTOWN — Sara Yvonne Boggs, 31, of Scottown, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. She was the wife of Randy Boggs, who survives. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Cleo Watson. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.

 

Gale Stowers

FLATWOODS, Ky. — Gale Jude Stowers, 54, of Flatwoods, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at her residence. She was the wife of Michael Dean Stowers, who survives. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Union United Baptist Church in Pilgrim (Martin County) with Pastor Jason Porter officiating.

Burial will follow at the Jude Family Cemetery in Martin County. Visitation will be 6-9p.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods and 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
