Margaret Gillenwater

Margaret “Marge” Gillenwater, 62 of Richwood, formerly of Kitts Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 11, 1949, in South Point, to the late Wiley and Easter (Bailey) Gipson.

On Aug. 5, 1966, she married Richard S. Gillenwater in South Point, and he survives in Richwood.

A 1969 graduate of South Point High School, she was a bus driver in the Rock Hill School District near Ironton for more than 20 years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church near Richwood and the Union County Horse Council. Marge was very active with the OAPSE and AFSCME union at the local, district and state levels.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Lynn (Paul) Holbrook, Marysville; and their children, Ryan, Kayla, Derik and Ashley; a sister, Wilma (Ward) Tackett, Charlestown, Ind.; and a niece, Judy (Joe) Wilson, Mount Washington, Ky. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m at the Union Baptist Church, 16623 State Route 739, Richwood, with Pastor Tim Peria officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Danny Mayo

PRICHARD, W.Va. — Danny Joe Mayo, 72, of Prichard, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at home. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Mayo. A celebration of his life will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the family home on White’s Creek Road in Prichard. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home. Douglas Abner

Douglas Abner, 85, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home.

 

Kenneth Fairchild

Funeral services for Kenneth Fairchild will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church in Ironton with Minister Jim Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
