HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall coach Doc Holliday once again relied heavily on his Florida connections to fill out his 2012 recruiting class, including a highly sought-after cornerback from Miami.

The third-year coach announced Wednesday the signing of 15 recruits along with 15 newcomers who were previously enrolled in school.

One of the prizes of Marshall’s 2012 class is AJ Leggett, a 6-foot cornerback from South Miami High School. Several recruiting services ranked Leggett among the top dozen high school cornerbacks in the country.

Twelve of the newcomers are from Florida, including seven signed Wednesday. The list includes linebacker Deyonte Henderson and defensive back Andre Scott from Oak Ridge High in Orlando, Fla.

Five of Wednesday’s signees are offensive linemen — Marshall graduated three starters on the line — and four are linebackers.

“Our coaching staff and support personnel deserve a lot of the credit for the work that they put in to make this happen,” Holliday said. “This is another outstanding recruiting class and I look forward to welcoming these young men into the Marshall football program.”
