Larry McClellan

HOUSTON, Texas — Larry Allen McClellan, 60, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, was laid to rest Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Klein Memorial Park in Houston. He went home to be with The Lord Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, from his home in Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence, in 1971, and a younger brother, Colby, in 2008.

Larry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Lynn McClellan and their four daughters whom he adored, Michele Ramirez and her husband, Manuel, of Houston, Erin Ison and her husband, Josh, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Natalie Oakley and her husband, Michael (Bear), and Noel McClellan, also from Houston. Larry also had three granddaughters and two grandsons.

In addition, Larry is survived by his mother, Betty McClellan and his sister, Sharon Wilson, both of Ironton. He is also survived by his brothers, Craig, living in Florida, Dane, living in Nevada, and Terry, living in Utah.

Larry was a 1969 graduate of Ironton High School and married the former Mary Lynn Weber, also of Ironton, in 1975. In 1980, he moved the family to Houston, where he worked as a building contractor. Larry enjoyed the Bible, sports and politics. He was a loving husband and his daughters and grandchildren were the focus and joy of his life. He will be greatly missed and his family looks forward to seeing him again in Heaven.

 

Jo Ann Payne

WILLOW WOOD — Jo Ann Payne, 79, of Willow Wood, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, from a local health care center.

The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Carlos P. and Carrie Gruber Dilley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Payne.

Mrs. Payne was a 1950 graduate of Ironton High School and a former payroll clerk for Carlyle Tile for 17 years. She was a member of the 10th Street Tabernacle Church, where she was the pianist and Sunday School teacher for many years. She will be greatly missed and loved by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carlos E. Dilley, and a brother-in-law, Bob Linn.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Matthew Klaiber of Willow Wood; a sister, Juanita Linn of Ironton; two granddaughters, Matison and Morgan Klaiber of Willow Wood; a sister-in-law, Barb Dilley Spriggs of South Shore, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Jo-Lin Health Center and the Community Hospice for the special care they gave Jo Ann.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the 10th Street Tabernacle Church with Minister Matthew Klaiber officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Nellie Sturm

WILLOW WOOD — Nellie Marie Sturm, 89, of Willow Wood, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She was the widow of the late Roy S. Sturm, Jr.

She was born March 13, 1922, at Wayne, W.Va., to the late Benjamin Harrison and Georgia Belle Hazlett. She attended New Zion Baptist Church.

Nellie was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Sturm; a grandson, George Michael Freeman and seven sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include one son, Keith (Carletta) Sturm of Willow Wood; one daughter Luanne (Mickey) Holland of Proctorville; grandchildren, Brian Freeman, Lujuana (Joe) Smith, Jessica (John) Coriell, Bobby (Shelley) Sturm, Marty Holland, Victoria Holland, Rebecca Holland and David Taylor; great-grandchildren, Kelsea and Derrek Smith, Andy and Kaylee Sturm, Caden and Isabella Holland and Jonathan Coriell; one sister, Patty Wallace and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank St. Mary’s Hospital sixth floor and Huntington Hospice for her care.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va., with Pastor Darrell Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Cyrus Cemetery. Rodney Vanover

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Rodney Howard Vanover, 60, of Huntington, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was the husband of Joann Vanover, who survives. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Patrick Anderson

FINDLAY — Patrick Joseph Anderson, 27,of Findlay, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Erie, Penn. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
