William Grimm

William (Bill) Leonidas Grimm, 81, died Friday Feb. 4, 2012, at his home. He was born April 20, 1930, in Ashland, Ky., to the late Wilbert William and Mary Claudine Smith Grimm. He was the husband of Noretta Howard Grimm for 56 years. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. He was a faithful member of the EUB Methodist Church Pedro. He was also a member of the Sons of Liberty (Rendezvousers), American Legion, Legion Riders and 32nd Degree Mason. He was an active member of the Bikers for Christ Motorcycle Ministry devoting countless hours ministering to the homeless in the Tri-State. He was a retired journeyman maintenance man at AK Steel (Armco). Besides his wife Noretta he is survived by three children, Mark Grimm (Deanna), Susan Laney (Danny) and Matthew Grimm (Stacie); and five grandchildren, Doug Grimm, Scott Grimm, Cody Grimm, Rebekah Laney and Dylan Grimm; one great-grandchild, Eli Strugill, and one dedicated good friend, Buck Ruth. Funeral will be noon Wednesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with pastor Dale Knipp and Bikers for Christ Regional Elder Roy Bennett. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial will be at Slab Fork Cemetery.

 

John McComas

WORTHINGTON, Ky. —John H. McComas, 70, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and children from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He has now been reunited with his beloved dog and devoted companion “Prissy.”

He was born on July 15, 1941, at Braeholm in Logan County W.Va., to the late Ellis and Ona Holland-McComas. John was a 1959 graduate of Wurtland High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a member of the 101st Airborne, 505th Infantry Division. Mr. McComas retired from AK Steel and was a former councilman for the City of Worthington. John loved life and enjoyed making people laugh.

In addition to his parents and his dog “Prissy”, he was preceded in death by two brothers Ellis McComas, Jr. and Jack Douglas McComas; and seven sisters Bonnie May McComas, Gloria Dale Frasher, Marjorie Edwards, Ada Sue Ferguson, Barbara Alice Johnson, Mabel Ferguson and Era Doris McGuire-Stumbo.

John is survived by his caring and loving wife of 45 years, Ramona Hanshaw-McComas of Worthington; one daughter Jhonda LaRae McComas of Lexington; one son John Raymond Ellis McComas of Ironton, OH; five sisters Macil Harvey and Collee Gambill both of Logan County; Mary and James Mullins of Rush; Ernie and Ron Cutshall of Grayson and Debbie and Larry Sturgill of Summerville, S.C. as well as a host of nieces, nephews and special friends all of whom will miss him dearly.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods with words of comfort and reassurance delivered to all in attendance by Rev. Ben James. Military honors will be conducted following the service at the cemetery by the VFW Post 8850 of Ironton. The McComas family has placed Carman Funeral Home, 2301 Argillite Road, Flatwoods, Ky. in charge of arrangements.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home in Flatwoods with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. by members of the Fred M. Gross.

 

Patrick Anderson

FINDLAY — Patrick Joseph Anderson, 27, of Findlay, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Erie, Pa. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native was born Jan. 15, 1985, the son of Charles Patrick (Pat) and Mary Jane Heighton Anderson of Findlay.

Patrick attended Massillon-Jackson High and was a graduate of Findlay High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was a former employee of various golf pro shops in Columbus, Ohio and was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Findlay.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by brother, Christopher Anderson of Columbus; twin sisters and their husbands, Tracy Nicole and Chad Kenney of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Amanda Joy and Matt Sterling of Massillon, and two nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. The family request that contributions be made to the Catholic charity of your choice.
