Walter Edwards

Walter Arundel Edwards, Jr., 85, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Lawrence County native was born July 2, 1926, the son of the late Walter A. Sr. and Mary Hampton Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Kitchen Edwards, whom he married Nov. 26, 1949.

Mr. Edwards was a graduate of Ironton High School and Centre College. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and an employee for 37 years for Allied Chemical. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Hampton Edwards.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Brent and Patricia Edwards of Ashland, Ky., and a granddaughter, Amanda Ann Edwards of Louisville, Ky.

There will be a memorial service at a later date. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Fannie Hatfield

WURTLAND, Ky. — Fannie Mae Daniels LeMaster Hatfield, 86, of Wurtland, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center. Visitation will be at 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Family Funeral Home on Argillite Rd. in Flatwoods with a celebration of Fannie’s life starting at 7 p.m. with Elder Terry Bryant and Pastor Butch Kiger officiating. Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m. with service starting at 11 a.m. at Duncan Fork United Baptist Church, Myrtle, W.Va., with Elder Eddie Layne and Elder Jerry McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memory Garden in Maher, W.Va.

 

Charlotte C. Heiskell

PARMA — Charlotte C. Heiskell, 96, of Parma, formerly of South Point, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Diplomat Healthcare in North Royalton. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

PEDRO — Joseph A. Stevens, 33, of Pedro, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

SOUTH POINT — Janet Thacker Bright, 69, of South Point, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home.
