Collins Career Center moves project forward

CHESAPEAKE — The Collins Career Center board of directors met Monday to discuss business of the school.

First on the agenda was approving criminal background checks for people that would be on campus and participating in the school’s renovation project.

Superintendent Steve Dodgion said background checks are routine with construction workers and those who will be on campus for these types of projects.

Also on the agenda, the board approved to pay the school’s insurance consultant who sent out bids for liability insurance.

The board approved the hiring of an Adult Basic and Literary Education instructor, two LPN instructors, two secondary academic substitutes and transferred an LPN instructor to the position of ultrasound director. A high school health academy teacher was also certified to administer examinations for state tested nursing assistants.
