Chesapeake woman charged with falsifying prescriptions

Allegations of falsifying prescriptions for a variety of medications, including Cymbalta, Xanax and even Viagra, brought a Chesapeake woman before a judge Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Sharon Black, aka Sharon Harvey, 38, of 35 Township Road 1007, was arraigned on 33 counts of fifth-degree deception to obtain dangerous drugs and two third-degree counts of the same charge.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brigham Anderson said while Black was an employee at Sunset Nursing Center, she allegedly falsified prescriptions and filled them through the center. He also said she was terminated for an unrelated reason before these allegations came to light.

Black pleaded not guilty through her attorney Scott Evans.

Judge Charles Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial for March 21.

In other cases:

• An Ashland, Ky., man pleaded guilty to fifth-degree vandalism and misdemeanor assault.

Cecil Gauze, 34, of 228 Meeks Drive, unsatisfied with his cab fare with the Sureway Cab Company, ripped the cab’s radio from the dash and assaulted the driver.

Cooper sentenced Gauze to six months in the county jail and ordered four years of community-controlled sanctions with intensive supervised probation. Gauze was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution to the cab company.

Gauze was represented by attorney Warren Morford.

• Anthony Adams, 30, of 1937 Township Road 250, South Point, was arraigned on two counts of second-degree burglary of two South Point residences.

Adams pleaded not guilty through his attorney Mike Davenport. Cooper set bond at $150,000 cash or surety and set a pretrial for March 28.

• Samantha Bertram, 23, of 3224 Central Avenue, Ashland, Ky., pleaded guilty to fifth-degree forgery.

Cooper sentenced Bertram to four years CCS with ISP and a 90-day county jail sentence to run concurrently with a sentence handed down in municipal court.

Bertram was represented by attorney Tyler Smith.

• Amy Hesson, 32, of 56 Township Road 1039, Room 5, Chesapeake,, admitted to a CCS violation.

Cooper sentenced Hesson to six months in prison. Hesson was represented by attorney Mike Gleichauf.

• Jeffrey Spencer, 33, of 248 Township Road 1163, Proctorville, was arraigned on two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence.

Spencer pleaded not guilty through his attorney Philip Heald. Cooper set a $25,000 cash or surety bond and scheduled a pretrial for March 21.

• Gary Willis, 40, of 450 Township Road 116, Kitts Hill, was arraigned on one count of fifth-degree theft from Tractor Supply Company.

Wills pleaded not guilty through his attorney Philip Heald. Cooper set a $10,000 cash or surety bond and scheduled a pretrial for March 28.
