CHESAPEAKE — It was a good start in two ways for the Chesapeake Panthers and head coach Ray Boster.

The Panthers beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 9-5 on Tuesday in their first game of the season and Boster’s debut as a head coach.

“It’s fresh for them, fresh for me,” said Boster. “It’s a fresh and new beginning for Chesapeake baseball.”

Brandon and Tommy Noble provided the big hits for the Panthers who rallied for five runs in the sixth inning to get the win.

Trailing 5-4, the Panthers used four walks and two-run doubles by each Noble to trigger the winning rally.

Mikey Walters went the final four innings to get the win. Hunter Bare was 3-4 while Walters and Blake Lester each went 2-4 to lead the Panthers’ 8-hit attack.

Jordan Fulford and Tanner Mays were 2-3 and Dylan Pelletier and Scott Dial 2-4 for the Vikings (0-2).
