It was a classic pitcher’s duel.

Ironton’s Kassey Carmon and Rebekkah Potter combined on a one-hitter while Sami Nixon gave up just two hits. The difference proved to be five Rock Hill errors as the Lady Fighting Tigers took a 4-2 win on Friday.

“I’m so proud of the girls for not giving up. Rock Hill is always a solid team,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields. “Tonight we were just able to capitalize on their errors.”

Carmon went four innings and struck out three while walking six. Potter went the final three innings for the win as she struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Nixon fanned eight and walked three in going the distance.

Emily Davis went 2-3 for Ironton’s hitting. Brooke Eastham had Rock Hill’s only hit.

Ironton plays at South Point on Tuesday.
