It was the little things that hurt the St. Joseph Flyers.

New Boston was able to make all the little plays in a 9-7 win over the Flyers in eight innings on Tuesday.

“They made the routine plays and put the ball in play. They didn’t hit it hard, but they just found the open spot,” said Flyers’ coach Brent Wirzfeld.

The Tigers used an error and singles by Justin Crager and Austin Bateman to score three times in the top of the eighth.

The Flyers tried to mount a rally in the bottom of the inning but fell short. Jacob Clark singled, Eli Lewis walked and Hunter Pemberton had an RBI single.

Joseph Payton was 2-3 and Jacob Clark 2-4 to lead the Flyers (3-2).

St. Joseph got two runs in the first inning with the aid of three errors and Payton’s base hit. Cole Willis had a three-run double in the fifth inning that tied the game at 5-5.

Bryson Adkins’ two-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored Payton who had singled and stole second and third to tie the game.
