AID — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings did what they needed to do.

The Lady Vikings had 10 hits and made just three errors as they routed the New Boston Lady Tigers 13-3 in five innings on Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We made the plays in the field and we hit the ball. When you do those kinds of things you’ve got a chance to win,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Hannah Maynard pitched 1-hitter to get the win. She struck out two and walked two.

Katie Hill and Maynard each went 2-3 while Karie Brumbaugh was 2-4 with two doubles and Autumn Keathley also went 2-4.

Three errors, an RBI double by Beth Brown and an RBI singled by Hill gave the lady Vikings a 4-1 first inning lead.

Kenessa Rossiter singled and Brubaugh doubled for a run in the second inning.

The Lady Vikings scored seven times in the fourth inning to lead 12-1. Brown, Maynad and Keathley had RBI singles and Hill a run-scoring double.

The final run came home on a walk to Maynard and Brenna Morris, a single by Keathley to load the bases and then Cheianne Hivley was hit by a pitch to force in the run.

The Lady Vikings plays at Western on Wednesday.
