Redwomen rout Chesy

PEDRO — If hitting is contagious, the Rock Hill Redwomen are in the middle of an epidemic.

Rock Hill spanked 11 hits including four doubles en route to a five-inning 15-1 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We played good defense and we hit well again,” said Redwomen coach Mary Jane Harper.

Kenzie Martin was 3-3 with two doubles and Chelsea Harper 3-3 with a double to lead an 11-hit attack. Brooke Hanshaw was 2-4.

Rock Hill (4-3, 2-0) took an 8-0 lead in the second inning.

Morgan Schug was hit by a pitch and scored on Martin’s hit. Brooke Eastham reached on a missed third strike and courtesy runner Brooklyn Kingery scored following three wild pitches.

Morgan Damron and BreeAnna Depriest walked and Harper had an RBI single. Hanshaw singled in two runs, Schug an RBI single and Martin a run-scoring double.

The Redwomen scored seven more runs in the fourth.

Harper and Hanshaw doubled, Schug singled and Martin had a two-run double. Lindy Simpson and Sami Nix walked and Damron grounded out as a run scored. Depreist and Harper singled in runs and courtesy runner Kaelynn Ellis came home on an error.

Caitlin Heffner had an RBI double in the fifth for Chesapeake.

Nixon allowed five hits to get the win. She fanned two and walked two.
