William Cannon

William F. “Bill” Cannon, 87 of Ironton, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his home.

He was born April 11, 1924, to the late Albert J. and Augusta E. Geswein Cannon. He was the widower of the late Wanda J. Culbertson Cannon. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Ironton Elks and the Knights of Columbus where he served as the financial secretary for 17 years. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and later was the public address announcer for St. Joseph Flyers football team for 11 years. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church and participated in St. Joseph’s men’s choir and funeral choir, St. Lawrence’s men’s choir and mixed choir.

He is survived by five children, David Cannon of Ironton, Debra (Dan) Jones of Ironton, Daniel (Julie) Cannon of Kitts Hill, Darrell (Kim) Cannon of Columbus and Diane Cannon of Ironton; one sister, Margaret Ann Henneman of Ashland Ky.; nine grandchildren, Joshua Cannon, Jennifer (Rick) Estep, Mackenzie (Josh) Setzekorn, Chris Winters, Rick Kline, Amber Jones, Lindsay Cannon, Drew Cannon and Ryan Cannon; and four great grandchildren Jaydn Cannon, Cole Estep, Caden Estep and Baylor Setzekorn.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, John (Jack) Cannon, Eugene Cannon, Thomas Cannon and Albert Cannon; and three sisters Rita Crabtree, Ruth Haney and Kathleen Cannon. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with Father Mark Purcell officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.Visitation will be 6 – 9 p.m. today at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home. Rhonda Kidd

Rhonda Ann Kidd, 45, of Ironton, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at home. Rhonda was born March 20, 1967, in Ironton, a daughter of Phyllis Irene Vanderhoof of Ironton and the late Jack Lee Barker.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Barker and William Lee Barker.

She is survived by her husband, Micheal Anthony Kidd; three daughters, Brooke Barker, Leah Kidd and Amanda Kidd; one son, James Kidd; a special sister and brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Roger Friend officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Rhonda. Joseph Brown

Joseph Jerome Brown, 33, of Huntington, W.Va., died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

Edmund Barker

Edmund Lee “Eddie” Barker, 70, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at his residence. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home with Elders Glenn Jenkins and Bill Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Ronald Gaffney

Ronald Gaffney, 71 of Ironton, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Sharon Gaffney, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.

 

Toni Black

Toni Nicole Black, 23, of Chesapeake, died Monday, April 09, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. She was the daughter of Kevin and Tammy Estep Black, who survive. Arrangements are pending at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home.
