Redwomen blank Lady Pointers; Lady Dragons win 10-0

SOUTH POINT — Sami Nixon and Morgan Schug did their impression of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.

Although there was no fence, Nixon and Schug combined on a whitewash as the Rock Hill Redwomen beat the South Point Lady Pointers 8-0 on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Nixon struck out six and walked one in six innings while Schug fanned one and walked one in an inning of work.

Chelsea Harper went 4-4 to lead a 14-hit attack for the Redwomen (10-4, 4-1). Brooke Hanshaw was 3-4, Kenzi Martin 2-3 and BreeAnna Depriest 2-4.

Harper singled, moved up on an error and scored on Hanshaw’s hit to make it 1-0 in the first inning.

Damron tripled and Depriest singled to start a three-run third inning. Depriest stole second and Harper had a two-run single. Hanshaw and Martin singled for the third run.

The lead went to 6-0 in the fifth when Hanshaw reached on a fielder’s choice and Schug and Martin followed with RBI doubles.

The final two runs scored in the seventh on singles by Depriest, Harper and Hanshaw and Martin’s sacrifice fly.

Fairland 10, Chesapeake 0

PROCTORVILLE — Chandler Fulks pitched a two-hitter as the Fairland Lady Dragons remained unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 10-0 five-inning win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Wednesday.

Fulks struck out four and walked four in getting the win.

Chloe Stanley went 3-3 with a double and three runs batted in to lead Fairland (9-1, 5-0). Jaimie Philips continued her hot-hitting by going 2-3 with and RBI, Haley Woodall was 21-3 and Mackenzie Riley was 1-1.

Jordan Porter was 2-3 for both Chesapeake hits.
