PROCTORVILLE — The pitchers took the spotlight, but Kerie Napier had the shining moment.

Fairland’s Chandler Fulks out-dueled Gallipolis’ Heather Ward and Napier drove in the winning run in the 10th inning as the Lady Dragons beat the Blue Angels 5-4 on Monday.

“Fulks pitched her heart out and the bottom of the lineup came up big. Kerie Napier had a big hit,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier.

Gallipolis went up 1-0 in the first inning when Kanessa Snyder walked, stole second, moved up on a passed ball and scored on Ward’s bloop single.

Ward and Rachel Morris singled and scored a run on a ground out by Brittany Lloyd to make it 2-0 in the fourth.

Fairland scored three in the bottom of the fifth.

Ellen Hinshaw doubled, Caitlin Stone singled and Chelsey Stanley tripled in two runs. She scored on a ground out.

Hinshaw and Napier doubled for a run in the sixth to make it 4-2, but Gallipolis got two runs in the seventh to tie the game.

Megan Cochran doubled and scored on a couple of passed balls. Jaymee Cremeans reached on a fielder’s choice and came around to score on a passed ball.

Chloe Stanley singled to start the 10th inning and Fulks rached on an error. Napier then hit a line drive to centerfield to score Stanley with the winning run.

Chloe Stanley was 3-5, Hinshaw 2-3 and Napier and Chelsey Stanley each 2-5.

Gallipolis was led by Ward and Cochran at 2-4.
