AID — No seniors, no problem.

Despite having the senior members of the team missing due to the annual senior trip, the Symmes Valley Vikings’ underclassmen beat the Chesapeake Panthers 6-0 on Tuesday behind the two-hit pitching of Mitchell Corn.

“Our young guys did a nice job. Mitchell threw well and Jacob Klaiber hit the ball well,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

Corn struck out 10 and walked four in going the distance.

The Vikings (7-5) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

D.J. Miller walked, Klaiber singled, Miller scored on a fielder’s choice and Tanner Mays singled in a run.

Symmes Valley iced the game with four runs in the fifth inning.

Miller was safe on an error, Klaiber and Herrell singled, Mays doubled in two runs and Corn singled in two more.

Mays was 3-3 and Klaiber 2-3 as the Vikings had eight hits.
