Joe Allen

Joe E. Allen, 75 of Ironton went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2012, at his home. The Argillite, Ky., native was born May 15, 1936, the son of the late Amos and Curtis Allen. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lisa Vanover Allen.

Joe was a retired Gold member of the Laborers Local 1445 with 50 years service and E.B. Lowman’s. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Etna Baptist Church. He enjoyed scrap metal and his pride and joys, Maveric and Madon McFann who called him “Dap”. Joe was an avid pet lover and loved every one of his dogs.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother, “Bub” and daughter, Tammy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his twin daughters, Kristen and Michelle; daughter, Melinda Rachal; sons, Darin Allen, Randy Allen, and Robbie Felty; two sons-in-law, Matthew McFann and Richard Webb; daughter-in-law, Nicole Allen;

his special grandsons, Maveric and Madon McFann, Travis King and Damon Allen; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters; a special niece and brother-in-law, Sara and Steve Vanover; and his faithful buddy, Harry Gullett.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Bill Coburn officiating. Burial will follow in Etna Cemetery in Pedro. Visitation is today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Nancy Huff

Nancy Catherine Huff, 77, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Ironton native was born Dec. 28, 1934, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Dickess Vaughn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fredrick Huff.

Mrs. Huff was a graduate of Pedro High School and was a former member rep. and senior loan officer for the Ashland Oil Credit Union. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton where she was involved in the Ladies Ministries and enjoyed ministering to others. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, crocheting and gardening. She was an astounding lady and role model that truly touched everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Vaughn and Charles Vaughn; and a sister, Mary Louise Stewart.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammie Huff Lutz of Lexington, Ky.; a granddaughter, Sydney Alyse Lutz of Lexington; a sister, Barbara Dransfield of Mobile, Ala.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jennifer Vaughn of Deering; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2318 S. Fourth St., Ironton with Pastor Rob Hale and Jim Carey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the services at the church. Paul Burd

Paul H. Burd, 72, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Brenda Burd, who survives. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home. Howard Bryan

Howard Sanford Bryan Jr., 82, of Worthington, Ky., died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was the husband of Edna Pearl Smith Hill Bryan, who survives. Funeral will be noon Saturday at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Collier officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Margaret Rankin

Margaret Capper Rankin, 83, of Crown City, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Crown City Cemetery.
