Frank Deeds

Frank Deeds, 67, of Auburndale, Fla., originally from Coal Grove, Ohio, passed away after an extended battle with lung cancer on April 19, 2012.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1944, in Hayward, Calif. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked at the Dayton Malleable for over 23 years, was a Coal Grove police officer, volunteer firefighter and served as a village council member. He was owner of Frank’s Giovanni’s in Wheelersburg and retired from Publix Corporate Security.

Frank enjoyed being outdoors deer hunting and hog hunting. His family and dogs were his main loves. His personality was larger than life and he gave all he had to whatever he chose to do. He appreciated all the cards, prayers and support over the course of his fight with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane (Huff) Deeds, of Auburndale; daughter, Keshia Deeds, of Lakeland; sister-in-law, Alma Edwards, of Chesapeake, Ohio and brother-in-law, Pastor Leo Edwards, also of Chesapeake.

A life celebration will take place at Coal Grove High School Cafetorium at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring photos and stories to share in remembrance.

 

Mary Lehrke

Mary Marguerite (Markins) Lehrke, 92, of Fairborn, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. She was born Aug. 27, 1919 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late George and Lillian (Mays) Markins. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Lehrke (ret.) who died in 1974.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Massie and Imogene Large; and five brothers, William “Wid” Markins, Alex Markins, George R. Markins, Harry Edward Markins, and Alton Markins; and special friend for many years, Paul Cole of Fairborn.

Ms. Lehrke worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, beginning in WWII where she retired in 1976. She also participated in many activities in and around the Fairborn area including: over 50 years of service as a member of 62 White Shrine of Jerusalem, an honorary life member of Chapter 614 in NARFE, the Republican Women’s Club of Xenia, a 60 year member of Eastern Star 536 of Fairborn, member of the Fairborn Senior Citizens Center, and St. Luke Methodist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Juanita Brunner in Fairborn, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.

A graveside service will be noon Monday at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 Main St., Fairborn. In lieu of flowers, Ms. Lehrke preferred contributions be made to Hospice in Dayton, Ohio, 324 Wilmington St. Condolences can be sent to www.morris-sons.com.

 

Lillian Winton

Lillian Louise Winton, 83, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Huntington, W.Va. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

Carolyn Mitchell

Carolyn Sue Mitchell, 63, of Huntington, W.Va. died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was the wife of David Mitchell, who survives.
