SOUTH POINT — The Arthur Lydiard Classic had specials guests and special dancers as well as special performances by the Fairland track teams.

Fairland beat Coal Grove by 10 points in the boys’ meet 107.5 to 97.5. Portsmouth was third with 89 points and Huntington placed fourth with 76.

The Lady Dragons had 111 points to edge Fairview by five points. Coal Grove placed third with 60 points followed by South Point with 56.

Special guests at the meet include Randy Barnes and Anne Audain.

Barnes is an Olympic golf medalist and world record holder in the shot put. Audain was the first professional female distance runner who won 75 of 122 races, set the record in the 5,000 meters and qualified six times for the Olympics.

Also on hand were the Kahurang Maori Dance Theater from Hastings, New Zealand.

The meet is named in honor of famed New Zealand track coach Arthur Lydiard.
