SYMMES TOWNSHIP — A bridge repair project on State Route 217 in Windsor Township is under way, and will be subject to back-to-back, single-day closures for the remainder of the week.

Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation are repairing a structure at the route’s 5.85-mile marker, which is near the route’s northern junction with S.R. 378 at Linnville, where inspections found that the bridge had significant deterioration and slight crushing on its rear abutment.

Currently, State Route 217 is open and traffic is being maintained with flaggers. However, the route is scheduled for closure between State Route 378 and Township Road 101 (Yellow Creek Road) today and Friday from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured via state routes 141 and 378.

Weather permitting, the repair project is anticipated to be completed within two weeks, and at all other times during operations, the route should remain open, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers.
