Citizens deserve thanks for stepping up for Collins

It is with a great deal of gratitude that I take this opportunity to thank the voters of Lawrence County on behalf of the Board of Education, staff, faculty, present and future students of the Collins Career Center for their YES vote that they cast for our levy on March 6.

With this levy in place, the career center will be able to go forward with the resources it needs to continue to be a state of the art career center for those students who attend.

Our construction project is underway and in two years we will be able to show the citizens of Lawrence County what they have allowed us to provide them.

As I travel throughout the state, it is evident that the Collins Career Center is reaching far beyond what would be expected of a rural technical school in Appalachian Ohio. We have been able to accomplish these things simply because we were presented with a challenge and the voters stepped up and provide us with the resources we needed which allows us to continue to do those special things for the community that we have always provided.

When you consider the fact that only a few levies passed in the entire state of Ohio, and in one of the poorest counties in our state, “our” citizens have stepped up and showed us the confidence that they have in our continuing ability to serve those students.

Whether they are an adult education student or high school student, they will have the best possible technical education available in the state of Ohio.

Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your confidence.
