Richard Ward

Richard “Dick” Innis Ward, 86 passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Lebanon, Ohio. He was born in Columbus, on Jan. 4, 1926, to Orville and Harriet Ward. He graduated from Columbus North High School and enrolled at OSU. The following year he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He sang professionally on WBNS radio on the Irwin Johnson Show and later as featured soloist for the Wayne King Orchestra. He returned to Columbus and started Ward’s Hardware. He married his wife of 60 years Georgiana Howard, also of Columbus, in 1951. They have three children Dan (Joyce) of Columbus, Doug (Tammy) of Union and Harriet (Dave Talmage) of Lebanon. They have seven grandchildren, Heather (Thomas Bechtel), Kathryn (Jason Fawcett), David Talmage, Nick Talmage, Melissa, Jacob, and Joshua and one great-grandchild Megan Bechtel. In 1965 Dick was called to become a minister and graduated from Ohio State University 1965 and the Methesco in 1968. He served churches in Ironton, Portsmouth, New Carlisle and Columbus. Dick was active in the conference of the United Methodist Church and served as Conference Youth Chair and Chair of Camps. Upon retirement he became Visitation minister at North Broadway United Methodist Church.

Dick was an engaging person who practiced his beliefs. He was proud to have mentored more than 15 people to become active in ministry. He believed that showing God’s love in everyday life was the secret to long-term happiness. He will be missed by countless people who were transformed by his caring love. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St, Worthington. A funeral service will be held at 2p.m. on Monday at the McKendree United Methodist Church, 3330 Cleveland Ave., Columbus with the Rev. Kathleen Herington officiating. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio, Otterbein Home or McKendree United Methodist Church.

 

Debra Pelfrey

Debra Pelfrey, 56, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at her residence. She was the wife of Mark Pelfrey, who survives. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bible Apostolic Church. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Tice Johnson

Tice Elkins Johnson, 87, of Chesapeake, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Centenary Cemetery. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. today. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

Marjorie Moeller

Marjorie Carol Moeller of Florissant, Mo., died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Florissant. Services will be held at a future date. Styger Funeral Home of Florissant is in charge of arrangements.
