SCOTTOWN — A Scottown man missing since June 28 was found unharmed Wednesday morning in Huntington, W.Va.

Charles Shoemaker was reported missing by his family last week at 2 a.m. Thursday. This was the second time since March for Shoemaker, 62, of 371 State Route 218, to have wandered away from his home.

“He was found after 7 a.m. walking on Sixth Avenue and Fourth Street in Huntington,” Sheriff Jeff Lawless said.

On March 13, Shoemaker wandered away from his home and was missing for 14 days. Then he was found walking along 20th Street in Huntington. After that incident Shoemaker’s family enrolled the man in the sheriff’s Project Lifesaver program.

However, this time the man had cut off the ankle bracelet that is the means for monitoring the participants.

Shoemaker was found by Huntington Police Department. He was in good condition with no medical problems reported, Lawless said.

“Family members have been notified and are going to pick him up at the police station,” the sheriff said.
