The Kiwanis Club of East Greenup County, Ky., would like to thank the 23 sponsors, 282 runners, and the dozens of other local businesses and community volunteers who helped make the 35th annual Run By The River a success.

At the end of the day, the 5K and 10K runs and walks will enable our club to continue scholarships for Key Club seniors at Russell, Raceland-Worthington and Greenup high schools, contributions to those schools’ family resource centers and provide food baskets at Thanksgiving, support for Shop With A Cop, the Terrific Kids program at Wurtland Elementary, the Builder’s Club at Russell Middle School,  and other community needs as they arise.

The following businesses and individuals signed on as sponsors: AAA Allied Group, Great Lakes Minerals, Super Quik, Kentucky Farmers Bank, First & Peoples Bank and Trust Co., Tres Hermanos Nunez Mexican Restaurant, Tri-State Construction & Enterprise, MTW Tire, Dr. James T. Brom, O.D., Home Federal, Dr. Charles M. Rhodes (Ashland-Bellefonte Cardiology), Carman Funeral Home, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Giovanni’s Pizza, McDonald’s, Money Financial Concepts, People’s Bank, Bob Clyse Chevrolet-Buick-GMC, Kim Wales Limer and Steve Limer, General Heating & Air Conditioning, Stultz Pharmacy, State Rep. We received invaluable assistance from the Russell, Worthington and Bellefonte Police Departments and donations from Jordan Ice, Pennington’s Foodfair, Walmart, Ashland Alliance, Ashland Visitors and Tourism Bureau, Cash Express, The Printing Express and Crabro Printing.

Coverage of the race was excellent and we appreciate the assistance provided by The Tribune.

Next year’s Run By The River is set for Saturday, June 8, 2013, and our club promises to work to make it even better than this year’s. In fact, the first entry is in hand.
