Fred Robinson

Fred Eugene Robinson, 76, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 4, 1935, the son of the late Fred and Dorothy Gullett Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Bishop Robinson, whom he married Nov. 4, 2008.

Mr. Robinson attended Pedro schools and was a U.S. Army veteran where he was in the 101st Airborne. Mr. Robinson was a former employee of the D.T.&I  Railroad, Dayton Malleable, operator for Mobile Pressure Washing and Robinson’s Used Cars.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Laverne Robinson, a stepmother, Madge Robinson; a brother, Ron Robinson; a sister, Ruby Robinson; and a son-in-law, Roger Lucas.

In addition to his wife, his is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Freddie Robinson Jr. of Ashland, Phillip and Susan Robinson of Deering, William “Bill” and Dottie Robinson of Hanging Rock, and Mark and Kim Robinson of Hanging Rock; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie and Clyde Millhouse of Ironton, Phyllis Lucas of Ironton, Twyla and Mike Ferguson of Chesapeake, Candy Jo and Shayne Barbour of Huntington, and Vicki Whitlow of Bryan; stepchildren, Rachelle and Chris Sparks of Wheelersburg, Dawn and Fred Stockburger of Fayette, Tamara Colon and Michael Prather of Wauseon and Troy and Teresa Colon of Fairview; a sister, Goldie and Alonzo Jenkins of Pedro; a brother, Glenn and Nancy Robinson of Pedro; sister-in-law, Connie Robinson of Pedro; 46 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans and Rev. Willard Metz officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Eugene Ratcliff

Eugene “Buddy” Ratcliff, 57, of South Point, passed away Friday, June 30, 2012, at his residence. Buddy was born June 13, 1955, in Cabell County, W.Va., the son of the late Alvin and Ruby Bills Ratclifff.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Virgil Kendrick, Raymond Kendrick, Charles Ratcliff, Herbert Ratcliff, James Ratcliff; three sisters, Avenel Kendrick, Irene Ratcliff and Doris Shy. He was a truck driver for A&S Sand and Gravel for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a kind, caring person who helped many people in their time of need. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who touched everyone’s heart, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Buddy is survived by a daughter, Veronica Howard and a son, Jason Eugene Ratcliff, both of South Point; five grandchildren, Caine Howard, Keirsten Howard, Madison Albright, Makynzie Lincoln and Morgan Ratcliff; five sisters, Betty Barrett, Janet Collier, Wanda McCall, Gladys Slone and Bernadine Markel; lifelong friends, Little Mike Howard and Domingo Maldonado; former wife Kimberly Bryson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Donahoe officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at wvv-w.schneidergriffin.com.

 

Melissa Curtis

Melissa D. Curtis, 32, of South Point, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at her residence. Arrangements are pending at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point.

 

Phyllis Richmond

Phyllis Emma McKnight Richmond, 87, of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd N. Richmond.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Josephine Spiers Karnes, 87, of The Woodlands, in Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, July 3, 2012. A private family service will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.
