An Ironton man will be arraigned today on charges of felonious assault after a stabbing just before midnight Wednesday.

John Ratliff, 27, of 514 Apartment D, South Ninth St., was arrested at approximately 11:50 p.m., after Ironton Police responded to a report of the stabbing of Ratliff’s brother, Lowell Ratliff, at that location.

When police arrived, they found Lowell Ratliff sitting outside with a towel on his leg.

“Lowell advised that he had gotten into an argument with his brother,” the report stated. “Lowell had a large stab hole on his left shin along with several other stabs on his shin. He also had several cuts on his hands and forearms.”

Lowell Ratliff told authorities he wanted to press charges against his brother before going to the hospital.

A pair of scissors with blood on them was collected at the scene.

John Ratliff was taken to the Lawrence County Jail where he remained prior to his arraignment in Ironton Municipal Court before Judge O. Clark Collins.
