Michael Hannan

Michael John Hannan, 65, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born March 26, 1947, the son of the late John W. and Edna Ernestine Blake Hannan.

Mr. Hannan was a graduate of Ironton High School and received his associate degree from Huntington Junior College. He was a former electrician for the Dayton Malleable/Ironton Iron for 32 years, retiring in 2000 and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Hannan.

He is survived by his former wife, Katy Hannan of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, John and Bridget Hannon of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jeff Johnson of South Point; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Julie Hannan of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Cassie and Nick Branham of South Point; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Brenda Hannan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; granddaughters Maria Hannan, Anissia Johnson, Taylor Hannan, Jordan Hannan, Madison Hannon, Cara Hannon and Lydia Hannan; grandsons Devin Guy and Sean Johnson and his wife, Krista, Jacob Johnson and Evan Hannon; two great-grandchildren, Zaydance and Judson; brother-in-law and his wife, John and Brenda Pyles of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church, 617 Wyanoke St., Ironton, with Pastor Todd Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Donations may be made to the Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church. Carolyn Stapleton

Carolyn Lee Stapleton, 69, of Ironton, passed Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Kings Daughter’s Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Mullens, W.Va., native was born Feb. 28, 1943, the daughter of the late Giles Lane Ellis Jr. and Rosemary Ellington Ellis Kidd.

Mrs. Stapleton was a homemaker and former real estate agent for Bowman Home Finders. She was of the Baptist faith and had lived most of her life in the Ironton area.

She was preceded in death by (in addition to her parents), her husband, Roy Stapleton, who passed on Oct. 2, 1997; her son, Shannon Stapleton; and half-brother, Richard Kidd.

She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Keeney of South Point; daughter, Sherry Lambert of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Carrie Keeney, Candice Jones Delawder, Krista Keeney, Summer Lambert, Kayla Keeney and Spencer Lambert; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah Keeney and Myia J. Sutters; brother, Giles Lane Ellis III of Deering; and half-brother, Larry Kidd of Russell, Ky.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Woodland Cemetery in the Coal Grove section P with Pastor Bob Bradley officiating. There will be no visitation. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Delbert H. Grizzle

Delbert H. Grizzle, 93, of Flatwoods died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Community Hospice

There will be a graveside service at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods at 1 p.m. Friday with Pastor Henry Montgomery officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the VFW Post 8850 of Ironton. There will be no visitation.

Mamie Lee Dillon

Mamie Lee Dillon, 80, of Chesapeake, widow of Rev. Burl Dillon, Jr., died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by the Rev. Luther Dingess. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington, W.Va.
