John Zeek

John Edward Zeek, 65, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Nov.12, 1946, the son of the late Edward Neal and Eloise Lambert Zeek. He is survived by his wife, Barbara “Bobilu” Woolwine Zeek, whom he married July 10, 1971.

Mr. Zeek was a 1964 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a 1969 graduate of Ohio University. He was a former teacher for the Rock Hill School District, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service and was a member of the Coal Grove Memorial UMC. He liked to read and write, computers and science fiction.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard N. Zeek.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Robin and Trubby Howard of Springdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Kevin Kuhn of Coal Grove; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Jeanne Zeek of Tipp City; a sister-in-law, Nadine Zeek of Ironton; three grandsons, Zachary Carey, Colton Kuhn, and Jaxon Kuhn all of Coal Grove; one niece, three nephews and a longtime friend, John Justice

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Ford officiating. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Coal Grove Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Brad Jenkins officiating. Donald McClure

Donald Omer McClure, 78, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday July 23, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He is survived by his wife Donna Sowards. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio with Pastor Phil Wilson and Pastor Randy Osborn officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
