Fae Arrington

Fae J. Arrington, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away July 28, 2012, at the SOMC Portsmouth Hospice. The Ironton native was born Sept. 3, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Connis Young Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dolphus Arrington. Mrs. Arrington was a graduate of Waterloo High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Slabfork United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star, Waterloo Lodge. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Avna Wiseman.

She is survived by a son, Jack Arrington and Marty of Boulder, Colo.; a son, Paul Arrington and Cyd of Kalaheo, Hawaii; three grandchildren, Mark Arrington of Salt Lake City, Utah, Malia Arrington of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Robyn Arrington of Madison, Wisc. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Slabfork United Methodist Church with the Rev. Max Donahue officiating. Burial will follow in Slabfork Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. John Pemberton

John Carlton Pemberton, Jr., 70, of Austin, Texas, died July 25, 2012. He was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Ironton, the son of John Carlton Pemberton, Sr. and Mary Virginia Chapman Pemberton.

He is survived by his son, Scott Pemberton and his wife Gloria; grandchildren Alyson and Jordan Pemberton; and his sister, Linda Dillow and her husband Paul of Ormond Beach, Fla.

Gregory Fortner

Gregory Blaine Fortner, 51, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, July 29, 2012. He was the husband of Betty Fortner, who survives. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Memorial Park, Milton, W.Va. Funeral procession will leave Hall Funeral Home at noon. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home. Hazel Elliott

Hazel Elliott, 95, of South Point, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Heartland of Riverview. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.
