At approximately 1:40 a.m. Sunday multiple units from the Ironton Police Department were called to the South Third Street bar over a fight that had ensued.

When one officer arrived at the scene, two other officers were attempting to handcuff a white male subject already on the ground, according to a police report.

“There was a large crowd around the officers,” the report stated. “Numerous other fights (were) breaking out on the sidewalk. A white male subject was pulled from a fight and was screaming and yelling and was being held back by numerous people.”

One officer warned the subject to calm down, but he continued screaming. He was then handcuffed and placed in a cruiser.

“Officers still observed fighting and arguing on the sidewalk by numerous people,” the report said.

A third man remained at the scene and tried to start another fight, the report said.

He was also handcuffed and placed in a cruiser.

The assault victim was sitting on the stoop of the bar bleeding from his face and head.

“It was apparent that someone had beat (him) up,” the report said. “However he was transported (to the hospital) before (an officer) could speak with him.”

A passerby told police that the man had been beaten with a bottle by a fourth party.

Dyer, Spradlin and Spencer were scheduled to appear in Ironton Municipal Court on Monday.
