COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets opened the volleyball season with a win on Monday over the New Boston Lady Tigers.

Coal Grove won in four sets, 25-23, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-12.

Cheyenne Bellomy led the Lady Hornets with 26 points while Ashley Adkins had 18 points and Bailey Harrison added 11.

Fairland golfers finish 4th

GALLIPOLIS — The Belpre Eagles won a quad golf match on Monday that included the Fairland Dragons.

Belpre had a 165 team score followed by South Gallia with 187, Hemlock Miller 199 and Fairland had a 223 total.

Hayden James shot a 50 to lead Fairland while Blake Kerstetter was one shot back at 51. Jake Wireman and Ethan Chapman each shot a 61 while Jake Warner added a 63 and Jackob Blake a 66.

Belpre’s Hayden Plummer took medalist honors with a 38.
