Joseph Payton is a point guard on the basketball team, so he knows how to dribble with his hands.
Payton also plays soccer and knows how to “dribble” with his feet. He did just that on Tuesday as he dribbled through the Chesapeake defense to score the only goal in the St. Joseph Flyers 1-0 win over the Panthers.
Payton scored from 8 yards out with 19:34 to play and the Flyers’ defense took it from there.
“Our defense played well and allowed us to control the tempo of the match,” said Flyers’ coach Tim Hopkins. “We took plenty of shots, unfortunately they were directed right at the goalkeeper.”
The Flyers had 12 shots on goal to just one for Chesapeake.
St. Joseph hosts Rose Hill at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and visits South Point at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
