Charles Dawson

April 1, 1946 — Sept. 27, 2012

Charles (Skip) Dawson, 66, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at his residence. Skip was born April 1, 1946, in Ironton, a son of the late Charles A. Dawson, Jr. and Irene Ferrell Conaway. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard and Air Force, worked as a foreman at Kentucky Electric Steel and attended South Point High School. Skip was an avid outdoorsman who loved boating on the Ohio River, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Tana M. Hanson Dawson; two sons, Tony (Kimberly) Dawson of South Point, and John Dawson of Franklin Furnace; one daughter, Cyndie (David) Chinn of Flat Top, W.Va.; one sister, Linda Stapleton of South Point; one step sister, Mary Ellen Robinson of South Point; one brother, Jay Dawson of Palm Bay, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Brianna and Garret Dawson, Lexie, Davie and Lakyn Chinn.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.
