Martin Scior

Martin C. “Marty” Scior, 52, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Oct. 3, 1960, the son of Donald Scior of Ironton and the late Joann Tomko Scior.

Marty was a 1979 graduate of Ironton High School and was a member of the football team. He was a self-employed construction worker and a U.S. Navy veteran.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Scior.

In addition to his father he is survived by a son, Zackary Scior of Patuxent River, Md., daughter, Shelby Jo Scior of Ashland, Ky; two grandchildren, Kaylee Marie Scior and Tanner Martin Scior; brother, Daniel Joseph Scior of Eureka, Wisc.; brother, Anthony Scior of Wheelersburg; brother, Eric Scior of Oshkosh, Wisc.; sister, Allison Sims of South Point and fiancée, Heidi Bester of Franklin Furnace.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Lee Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jacob Jarrett, Zack Scior, Jesse Sims, Adam Scior, Tyler Scior and Kyle Scior. Christina “Tina” Stahl (nee Holbrook), 49, formerly of Ironton. Loving wife of David; devoted mother of Annie and Owen; dear daughter of Donald Holbrook (Carol) and Mary Tennant (Delbert); dearest sister of Donnie (Andrea), Nellie Adkins (Joe), Nathan and Jon Blevins; aunt of five nieces, five nephews and one special great-nephew.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cuyahoga Valley Church, 5055 E. Wallings Road, Broadview Heights. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Road, Brecksville. A memorial service for Tina will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church in South Point.

Thomas Smathers, 82, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at home. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Locust Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Eric Scott Blankenship, 40, of Huntington, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. There will be no services. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home.
