William Sparks

William Henderson Sparks, 87, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his residence. The Ashland, Ky., native was born Dec. 18, 1924, the son of the late Carnes and Opal Mae Pack Sparks. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Maxine Neville Sparks.

Mr. Sparks attended Ashland City Schools and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He is a former truck driver for Ford Brothers for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He is a member of the American Legion in St. Albans, W.Va., and of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; and three sisters. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Charles North of Ironton and Cheryl and Therold Harris of Lexington, Ky.; a son and daughter-in-law, William H. Jr. and Donna Sparks of Ashland; a brother, James Sparks of Richmond, Ky.; a sister, Lorinda Kirk of Ironton; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain Randy Tate officiating. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Patricia Sansone

Patricia Lou Sansone, loving mother, daughter and wife, went to be with Our Lord on Oct. 10, 2012, from Jo Lin Health Center. Patricia was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Cincinnati. She was a homemaker, a member of the Red Hat Society at Jo Lin Health Center and the Izaak Walton Lake Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Juanita Russell Sansone; one brother, Carl A. Sansone; one son, William Colburn; one granddaughter, Morgann Brush; her first and second husbands, James Colburn, Sr. and Frank Horton; and a longtime companion, Raymond Russell.

Patricia leaves behind three daughters, Cathrene and Allen Brush of North Bend, Neb., Sally and Donald Richendollar of Ironton, and Tammy Colburn of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sons, James and Holly Colburn of Donathen Neb., Richard and Valee Colburn of Lexington, Okla., Robert and Milly Horton of Miami, Fla., and Roger Russell of Greenup, Ky. Patricia also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 Coralene Brown

Coralene Brown, 85, of Huntersville, N.C., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. She was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Kitts Hill, and was the widow of Wes Brown.

Survivors include her son, Robert Woolwine and wife, Diane Woolwine; granddaughter, Deanna Honaker, three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of Huntersville, N.C.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Locust Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

 

 Dolores Gardner

Dolores Adkins Gardner, 81, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance Mausoleum, Huntington, with Pastor Dwayne Shugert officiating. There will be no visitation.  Robert Holley

Robert Holley, 64, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Sunset Nursing Home. He was the husband of Beverly Holley, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.
