Mary Jenkins

Mary Emily Jenkins, 88, of Ironton, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012, at Jo-Lin Health Center . The Gallipolis native was born May 3, 1924, a daughter to the late Milton C. and Mildred (Patterson) Carter. Mary is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald Jenkins. Mary was a graduate of Cadmus High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Wilmington College and also a master’s degree. Mary served more than 35 years working as a teacher for the Dawson-Bryant Schools. She was also a member of Sedgewick United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by a sonm Brian Jenkins of Chillicothe; two grandsons, Nicolas and Landen Jenkins, also both of Chillicothe; five sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Evans; and three brothers, Emmitt Carter, Charles Carter and Joseph Carter.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Willard Metz officiating. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary to Sedgewick United Methodist Church, 1717 Reynolds St. Ironton, OH 45638. Alfreda Rist

Alfreda Mae Weyant Rist, 86, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 1, 1926, the daughter of the late David and Mae Roseberry Weyant. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmo E. Rist, Jr., who passed away Dec. 2, 2000.Alfreda was a 1944 graduate of Ironton High School, a former manager for Time Warner Cable and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Ronald and Donald Rist; a son, Bob Rist; and a sister, Mary Palmer. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Davis of Ironton; 2 grandchildren, Adam Beard and Rebecca Rist of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; three great grandchildren; and two nephews, Jim Palmer of St. Albans, W.Va. and Carl Palmer of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Harvey and Rev. Aaron Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Carl Snyder

Carl Edward Snyder, 88, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at home. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

David Carrico

David Allan Carrico, 47, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville.  Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.  Visitation will be held 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville.
