Titans start fast to down South Point

PORTSMOUTH — The South Point Pointers couldn’t get started again.

The Pointers struggled offensively in the first quarter for the second straight game as they lost to the Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans 56-38 on Friday.

Notre Dame (6-1) jumped out to a 16-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Pointers (3-5) cut the deficit to 26-17 at the half, but the Titans outscored the Pointers 30-21 in the second half for the win.

Brandon Barnes scored 14 points and John Johnson had 11 points to lead South Point.

Kevin Lewis scored 14 points and J.P. Kayser 10 to lead the balanced Titans.

Notre Dame 16 10 15 15 = 56
