Power of the Purse hosting Hats On for the Derby

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Power of the Purse is hosting its second annual Hats On for the Derby brunch on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. at Guyan Golf and Country Club.
Rebecca Denning, Psy.D., will present a talk titled, “Taking Strides Toward Positive Self-Esteem.” There will also be a hat parade with a prize for the best hat, numerous raffles and door prizes. Hats are encouraged but not mandatory.
Tickets may be purchased at Mug & Pia or by calling the United Way of the River Cities office at 304-523-8929, ext. 0. Tickets cost $35.
The event is sponsored by the Francis Charitable Trust. This year’s event will benefit “Bring Girls on the Run to Cabell/Wayne Counties.”
“Bring Girls on the Run” is a self-esteem building program for fourth- and fifth-grade girls. This program combines life lessons with teamwork building skills while training to complete a 5K race together.
Power of the Purse is a women’s philanthropic group dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in the community. The focus is to improve self-esteem in middle school girls. Power of the Power is a group of United Way of the River Cities.
