Blue Angels turn back Redwomen

GALLIPOLIS — Nobody’s perfect.
The Rock Hill Redwomen suffered their first loss of the season as a late rally fell short in a 6-4 loss to the Gallipolis Blue Angels on Tuesday.
Violet Pelfry got the win for Gallipolis. She struck out eight, walked one, hit a batter and gave up nine hits.
Sami Nixon took the loss. She struck out 10, walked two and gave up eight hits.
Rock Hill (7-1) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Jenna Lane reached on an error, stole second and scored on a hit by Brooke Eastham.
Gallipolis (6-3) tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Kendra Barnes singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Violet Pelfry.
Kassie Shriver had a two-run single to highlight a three-run third for Gallipolis to build a 4-1 lead.
Two more runs scored in the fourth on a walk, two hits and an error.
The Redwomen put together a rally in the seventh.
With one out, Eastham singled, Brooke Hanshaw walked and Kenzi Martin reached on an error as two runs scored.
Kenzi Harrah was safe on a two-out error as the third run scored.
But the next batter grounded out to end the game.
