Sue Birchfield
Sue L. Birchfield, 88, of Ironton, passed away May 2, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., after a brief illness with her family at her side.
She was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Prestonsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late Alene Tolbert France and the late James W. Tolbert. She cleaned homes and was of the Protestant faith, attending the Christ Temple Church in Ashland.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Birchfield; three sons, Robert, William and Randy Birchfield; a daughter, Alene Battise; two brothers and two sisters.
She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, James “Dougie” Birchfield of Ironton, James (Rosemary) Birchfield of Cincinnati and Hugh “Puddy” (Tara) Birchfield of New Jersey; three daughters, Sonya (James) Taylor, Mary Robinson and Jackie Birchfield; 28 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. today in the Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Ky., with Pastors Elzie Thomas and Richard Carter officiating. The funeral procession will leave Brown Funeral Chapel at noon.

Marie Henry
Marie Henry, 90, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday May 1, 2013, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Ironton, a daughter of the late Mayme Riley and the late H.B. (Doc) Riley. She was a loving mother who had worked for Henrites as a bookkeeper until it closed and then she worked until she retired at the Ironton Tribune, was of the Protestant faith, attending the Ironton Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jr. Henry; brother, Jack Riley; sister, Betty Smith; and two grandchildren, Demitrius and Jaxson Frazer.
She is survived by her son, Jack Osborne Sr. and his wife Cathy; two grandchildren, Leanne Johnson and Jack (Marty) Osborne and his girlfriend Carly Davis, two great-grandchildren, Zaylin Willis and Dreyden Osborne.
Graveside funeral rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may share memories and condolences on the Facebook page for the Brown Funeral Chapel. The family has entrusted her care to Brown Funeral Chapel.
Franklin Puthoff
Franklin Puthoff, 84, died on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. He was born March 14, 1929, the son of the late William and Edna Deere Puthoff. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pine Grove, a Korean War veteran, and was retired from the Ironton Coke Plant. He was preceded in death by one son, Bill Puthoff; and one brother, Lawrence Deere. Survirvors include his wife, Edna Callicoat Puthoff of Ironton; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Compton of Grove City; and two grandchildren, Shae Compton of Cincinnati and Blake Compton of Cincinnati. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at noon with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home after 9:30 a.m. with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Donations are requested to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 499 Ironton, OH 45638.
Timothy Chapman
Timothy Lend Chapman, 56, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. William Mann
William Christopher Mann, 51, of Denver, N.C., formerly of Scottown, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at home. He was the husband of Gloria Mann, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.
