Annual trip important for county

Whoever said the squeaky wheel gets the grease may have been talking about how things seem to work in politics.

With that in mind, Lawrence County will be squeaking — or hopefully speaking with a stronger voice — in Columbus Thursday. The annual Legislative Day, put together by the Chamber of Commerce, isn’t about complaining to our elected leaders, but it is about educating them on the many good things going on here and helping them understand what they can do to be part of the progress.

It is difficult to directly measure the complete impact of this annual bus trip of business leaders, government officials and citizens, but it is not a stretch to say that this trip has helped shape Lawrence County for more than a decade.

The focus again this year, as it has been in recent trips, is two topics that are critical to the county’s future: economic development and transportation.

Anyone seeking more information or wanting to reserve a spot can call the Chamber at (740) 377-4550.

There still time to get on board and help ensure Lawrence County has a strong voice in Columbus.
