John McKnight

John Robert “Bobby” McKnight, II, 28, of South Point, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Brother Ron West officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Bobby was born Sept. 13, 1984, in Huntington, a son of John Robert “Bob” (Joanna) McKnight of South Point and Jenny (Phillip) Sperry Gilmore of Proctorville. He was a graduate of South Point High School. He is survived by a son, Joey Pommell; three daughters, Trinady Crabtree, Autumn McKnight and Brooklynn Breece; four sisters, Christin Hughes, Marlee Gilmore, Annaleigh Gilmore and Lauren Gilmore; a brother, Brad Perry; a niece Jacey Fuller; a nephew, Tyler Hughes; paternal grandparents, Robert and Betty McKnight; and maternal grandparents, Marlin and Cor-Nan Yelton. Joann Runyon
March 31, 1941-May 5, 2013
Joann Runyon, 72, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Boyd County, Ky., native was born March 31, 1941, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel Royce Hughes.
Ms. Runyon attended Hanging Rock High School and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Hughes, Leo Hughes, and James “Bimbo” Hughes.
She is survived by a daughter, Terri Lynn McDaniel and her fiance Ronnie Cooper, both of Maysville, Ky.;
a brother, Don Hughes of Ironton; a sister, Fern Wise of Ironton; three grandchildren, Justin McDaniel, Amber McDaniel Watcher, and Lonnie (Amber Ratliff) Williams; two great grandchildren, McKenzie Whitcher and Savannah Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Sammy Cooke officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home. Ida “Mamaw” Louise Bevins Gilliam Williamson, 90, of Flatwoods, Ky., formerly of Pike County, Ky., died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Ky., with Elder Richard Statton and Mark Carter officiating. Burial will be in Smith Family Cemetery in Rockhouse, Ky. Ethel McKee
April 12, 1921-May 6, 2013
Ethel Almeda McKee, 92, of Ironton, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born April 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph Edward (J.E.) and Almeda Pemberton Mays. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Pearl McKee.
Mrs. McKee attended High Top School and was a former cook for Bryant’s and JoLin Health Centers. She was a member of the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Eastern Star and the Sunrise Garden Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Madison Mays, Homer Mays, Floyd Mays, Bert Mays, and William Mays; and three sisters, Bertha Dilley, Alice O’Neal, and an infant sister, Stella Mays.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis I. Gossett Woods and her husband Paul of Ironton; three grandchildren, Karen (Alan) Leighty of Ironton, Robin (Gary) Hugo of Columbus and Shannon Norris and her fiance Jake Jewell of Coal Grove; three great grandchildren, Josh (Amy) Leighty of Delaware, Nathan Leighty of Ironton and Kayla Whitacre of Columbus; and three great great grandchildren, Aidan Leighty, Ava Leighty, and Chase Leighty.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Willis and Rev. James Cremeans officiating. James Mathew Langdon, 54 of Fairfield, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Fairfield Mercy South Hospital in Fairfield. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
Marcella Hammond
April 14, 1921-May 7, 2013
Marcella Mae Hammond, 92, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at her residence. The Ironton native was born April 14, 1921, the daughter of the late George and Ora Scott Cassidy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “June” Hammond.
Mrs. Hammond was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a homemaker. She was a devoted mother and a member of the Lunch Bunch Group. She was also a member of the Coal Grove Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir, with the Praise team and blessed the church often with her beautiful voice by doing solos.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George Arnold Cassidy and Earl Cassidy; a sister: Juanita Crock; and a son-in-law, Gordon Matney.
She is survived by a daughter: Gloria Matney of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Gayla Hammond of California; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Patty Hammond of Lawrenceville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Victoria Hammond of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 226 Memorial St., Coal Grove, with Rev. Brad Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Robin Huff
Mrs. Robin Michelle (Bryant) Huff went home to the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2013, after a year and a half long fight with cancer. She loved her jobs as a veterinary office manager and pharmacy technician. She touched the lives of all the people she met and worked with. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She absolutely adored her grandbabies and her pets. Robin is survived by her husband, Steve Huff; and her four children; Amy Hicks (Travis), Megan Hart (Chris), Steven Huff, and Jenna Huff. Robin had five grandchildren, Abbey, Autum, and Carson Hicks and Chelsea and Chase Hart. She is also survived by her father Johnny Bryant and siblings, David, Daniel, John, Linda and Robert Bryant and Diana White. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bryant, and grandmother, Wilma Bryant. Memorial services will be Thursday, at Auburndale Community Church, 1955 US HWY 92, Winter Haven, Fla., at 7 p.m. A service will also be held at Greater Faith Apostolic Church in Ironton at a later date.
Fannie Jones
Fannie Jane Jones, 94, of Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. A private family graveside service will be at Smith Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, assisted the family with arrangements.
