James Langdon

June 21, 1959 — May 6, 2013

 

James Matthew Langdon, 53, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Fairfield Mercy South Hospital in Fairfield.

He was born June 21, 1959, in Columbus, a son of Mary Frances Langdon of Fairfield and the late Rev. Ronald P. Langdon. He held several positions during his lifetime including an automotive tech at the Hummer plant in Hamilton, a security guard and a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Michael Kessler of Hamilton; two daughters, Michelle (Troy) Eastin of Hamilton and Rebekah Langdon of Fairfield; three sisters, Debra S. Langdon and Ronda Langdon Perdue, both of Fairfield, and Janet (Pat) Thompson of Pedro; three grandchildren, Cody, Dakota and Chloe; former wives, Mary Kessler and Tonya Langdon; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Willard Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Vergie Floyd

Aug. 25, 1925 – May 10, 2013

 

Vergie Louise Floyd, 87, of Willow Wood, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at a local health care center. The Scottown native was born Aug. 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Forrest E. and Vergie Mae Murdock Dillon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Denver Floyd.

Mrs. Floyd was a graduate of Windsor High School and a member of the Church of Christ on Greasy Ridge. She delivered mail for the Scottown Post Office.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles D. Floyd; a granddaughter, Sabrina Rowe and a sister, Freda Nichols.

She is survived by a son, Forrest “Dave” Floyd of Largo, Fla.; a step-son, Tucker Floyd (Nina) of Proctorville; a sister, Loretta Strunk of Toledo; a grandson, Forrest “Douglas” Floyd of Dunedin, Fla.; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two nieces, Lois Campbell of Ackworth, Ga., and Sherry Nichols of Bradenton, Fla.; and special friends, Nancy Wilson, Tyler Treadway and Carl David Pruitt.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday May 14, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton with Pastor Tom Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery. Juanita Linn

May 27, 1927 – May 10, 2013

 

Juanita L. Dilley Linn, 85, of Ironton, passed Friday, May 10, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. The Ironton native was born May 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Carl and Carrie Gruber Dilley.

Mrs. Linn was a 1945 graduate of Ironton High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Linn and her husband were founders and operators of Bob Linn Sporting Goods in Ironton for many years. She was a former member of the Catholic Women’s Club, Ladies Bowling League and the Ladies Tuesday Golf League at the Ironton Country Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Linn; brother, Carlos Dilley and sister, Joann Dilley Payne.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Jeanette Linn of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Janine and Don Stalter-Mains of Lancaster; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Mary Linn of Ironton; seven grandchildren, Greg (Brittany) Linn of Ironton, Sarah Linn of Ironton, John “Rob” Linn of Columbus, Joey Linn of Ironton, R.J. Linn of Ironton, Jennifer (Doug) Jenkins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Rebecca (Trevor) Stalter Thomas of Johnstown; eight great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Barb Dilley Spriggs of South Shore, Ky.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5:30-8 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton. Lawrence Edwin McKnight, 81, of Kenova, W.Va., died Friday, May 10, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville is in charge of arrangements.

Our little angel, Wyatt Eli Pick was born into Heaven, May 9, 2013, at 2:05 a.m. He’s now an angel looking from above. We will think about you daily and always be in our hearts. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va., with Pastor Rob Wheeler officiating.

The procession will leave the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Monday. Wyatt Eli is the precious infant son of Adam and Heather Pemberton Pick of Ashland, Ky. He was preceded in death by his big brother Christian Gregory and grandpa, Gregory Pick. Wyatt is survived by his big brother Bryson Joseph; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Pemberton; paternal grandparents, Debbie and Rex Elam; great grandmother, Grace Pemberton; two aunts, Melissa and Kendra Pemberton; two uncles, Justin Pick and Chad Pemberton; and one cousin, Abigail Pick.

Hazel McClung

Sept. 14, 1929 – May 9, 2013

 

Hazel Mae McClung, 83, formerly of Ironton and Newark, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in South Pasadena, Fla.

She was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Clintonville, Greenbrier County, W.Va. She was a homemaker and loving mother her entire life. She was a former member of the Ironton High School Band Boosters, VFW Post 8850 Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade Committee. She attended Christ United Methodist Church while she resided in Ironton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Everett Burns and Mary Ethel Burns; one sister, Meredith Gaylene Burns; a daughter-in-law, Dottie Church McCling and a grandson, Ryan Lee McClung.

She is survived by five children, Marilyn (Mark) Caniff, Gary W. (Carol) McClung, Roger L. (Evelyn) McClung, Glen A. (Stoney Norwood) McClung and Sherri L. (Jon H.) Hatfield; seven grandchildren, Jeffery J. Bryant, Michael E. Caniff, Gary W. (Katie Pyles) McClung Jr., Bridget L. (Ben) Baker, Kyle L. (Aine) McClung, Benjamin L. McClung and Jack Brady Hatfield; five great-great grandchildren, Erin Bryant, Joel P. Caniff, Nicole McClung, Ryan B. Baker and Reece H. Baker; two brothers, Harold J. Burns and Robert Dale (Judy) Burns; good friends Kat Costianes, Hattie Jenkins, Edith Iacopinelli, Jackie and Vic Turner and Jane Filkins; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral Home in Newark is in charge of arrangements. Family visitation will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Donald Dingess, 81, of Wurtland, Ky., died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He is survived by his wife, Betty Conley-Dingess. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Carman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery North East with military honors by VFW Post 93. Carol D. Suttles, 69, of Wurtland, Ky., died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Wurtland Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home-Flatwoods. Friends may call two hours prior to service time. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
